What is Coaching?
Probably Tim Gallwey best describes the essence of coaching. He sees it as "unlocking a person's potential to maximise their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them." We would totally agree.
View moreIt is the most powerful way of communicating that we know. It becomes the catalyst for positive change. Focus is on the now and, more so, on the future. It enables people to envision, it checks the reality of the situation, it enables realistic goal setting, it opens up options and it checks the will to win through.
We always believe that the way to move anyone forward is to have them learn, or accomplish it for themselves. Coaching enables this to happen. It's the coachee that comes up with their own way forward; a way that is much more suitable and appropriate than being advised, cajoled or instructed. They own it and because they have "bought in" to it, they will deliver.
-
What are the benefits of coaching?
The benefits and value that coaching can bring to the individual, the team, and the organisation as a whole, are many and varied. Anything that requires 'moving forward' is a candidate. We will bring an independent impartiality to looking at the challenges and situations faced by you or your business today. No hidden agendas, no political bias - just a passion to create successful, high-performing teams.

Leadership Development – Making a big difference
I believe the development of leadership at all levels is of great importance to any business or organisation. Business leaders know and have recognised, that organisation have promoted people at times for the wrong reasons.
View moreIf we accept this, it stands to reason that we will have had some successes in changing a few but likewise others will have mentored and developed other subordinate managers in their own likeness. In this way a process of "self perpetuation" continues leading to inappropriate managers and leaders that appear to go through the motions and may not be focused to organisational values. Organisations arrange leadership and coaching courses but still it prevails in a way that it shouldn't.
I make this statement not through anything other than we at Proform have a belief that as an organisation we understand and can help. To back the learning up should be where necessary one-to-one coaching on the job within the individual's environment and not in the class room should happen.
My evidence is from personal experience and the experiences of colleagues spread throughout different organisation, companies and countries. My commitment is to make a change.
My experiences and observations in no way mean that all the managers I have met are deficient in leadership and coaching. In fact, the best of them have unknowingly contributed to my thinking as they also have recognised this and are having such experiences.
It is only by becoming aware of these facts that we can control our own progression and development, those who are not aware will not change.

What our clients say about us...
-
David is a business coach - coaching me on a personal level to help me (1) develop myself and (2) deal with business issues. He does this through effective questioning and clear action planning and does so in a way which nets real tangible results. He allows me to focus on my thoughts and priorities in relation to my business.
-
As a mentor having “been there and done that” he has the skills and knowledge in all areas and would normally be your superior in a work situation. He will deal in the now, and how the past has shaped you, what makes you "tick" and how a specific physical or mental condition can be addresses.
-
He took time to understand my organisation, its people and the technical problems that were prevalent at the time. By working with individuals, both listening and coaching, he supported the development of strategies to drive improvement.
-
Working with David was interesting and it was refreshing to work with someone who is passionate about what they do. He has a clear energy that focuses on understanding your business and its people.
-
David uses a technique which enables me to think of the best solution by myself in a shorter time. He simply asks me what my goals and objectives are for the immediate future and longer term. When I have identified those he simply asks one or two questions and lets me decipher the best course of action to achieve those goals.
